Catalina loves Marines
My friend, Charlie, is a Marine (Recon) deployed right now in Iraq. This is his third trip to Iraq. So I write a little Myspace message to Charlie every day and when he comes back from wherever he’s been off doing whatever it is he’s doing there (don’t ask/don’t tell… never ask a Marine what he’s been up to during deployment) he has some messages and pictures to make his day just a little bit better.
In my last conversation with Charlie, he said that he’s lonelier than he’s ever been on any of his deployments. My plan, then, is to ask you to do me a favor and make friends with Charlie on Myspace and send him some messages.
I’m not asking you to support the war in Iraq nor to condemn it, but simply to do something randomly kind and send a lonely Marine a nice little message.
