Catalina loves Erotic Signature’s Volume II

"Curves" by Lochai Appears In Erotic Signature

Erotic Signature Winner, "Curves," by Lochai

In case you forgot, I happen to have this huge crush on Lochai.  It just so happens that Lochai’s famous “Beach Bound” image was awarded the Most Erotic Photograph in Erotic Signature’s Volume I last year.  This year, “Curves” is in Volume II.  So when Tina asked me to post her review here, I was thrilled!

In the world of coffee table books, erotic art has not traditionally been a big contender. The eroticism we usually expect when thumbing through a book in someone’s home would be more the subtle O’Keefe than the blatantly sexual Giger. However, this is rapidly changing as we move into the future, and we are rediscovering the visual delights of the human body. It is no longer taboo to talk about sexuality in polite company or to appreciate expressions of it in our living room, and these expressions are not considered pornography, but art. Hence, the annual release of Erotic Signature’s volume II is well timed to suit the changing needs of the art world.

Erotic Signature just announced the release of their second volume, containing two hundred winners from their annual erotic art competition. The material submitted for the competition is divided up via categories including erotic fine art, erotic digital art, erotic photography, and erotic sculpture. The submissions are then judged by a panel of experts. These judges include curators, writers, photographers and digital artists and all carry impressive credentials.

The book itself is a marvelous piece, well worth proudly displaying on any art collector’s coffee table. The cover of this year’s volume depicts the grand prize winner, Jaygi, and his gorgeous digital art image of a woman incased in what looks to be ice named “Ophelia“. Her body is flawless, her pose open and celebratory as if she is offering herself to the heavens. Every curve of her body is exquisite. Further in, the Fine Art winner Mark Blanton’s “Nypmh and Saty” is so beautifully drawn and shaded, it seems about to come off the page. “In Search of Heaven”, this year’s photography winner, drips eroticism and instills a lust for the contrast of tattoos against soft white skin in even the most conservative viewer. These are just a few of the grand prize winners, and they are among the hundreds of excellent winners depicted in this fine release.

And the photos are only the beginning of the treasures waiting beneath the glossy covers of this volume. There are also inspiring articles on erotic art, bios on judges and artists alike, information on various museums like WEAM (the World Erotic Art Museum in Miami). In short, the entire book is proof that erotic art is taking its rightful place among mainstream art,  and is  finally being valued for what it is… a truly human and highly arousing experience.
